Third World Novelist: African literature and culture
It has been argued that the Third World novelist “cannot expect to be excused from the task of re-education and re-generation that must be done. In fact, he should march right in front” (Chinua Achebe, 1988, p. 45). Using this quote as your point of departure, and the 3 readings as your sources, discuss the role that Third World novelists play in their countries’ struggles for political, economic, social and cultural development. If you were a Third World novelist, would you identify with these struggles and contribute towards the realization of their goals?
Also, use one method of your choice when citing your sources throughout the essay.
