Trends in Persuasion Research
Advertising can be viewed as a leading form of persuasion that people confront on a daily basis. List and explain at least two other forms of persuasion you engage in or are confronted by on a regular basis. Are your experiences in this area positive or negative? How do morals and ethics affect the persuasion situations you choose to describe?
Your initial response should be 150-200 words in length. Please support your claims with examples from the text, required and recommended material, and/or scholarly articles.
Defining Persuasion
Compare the definitions of persuasion presented in the Howell (1973) article and in Chapter 1 of the textbook. How has the definition of persuasion changed over the past forty years? Based on your comparative analysis, predict how the definition of persuasion will change in the next forty years.
